Is Surrey Known as Little Afghanistan?
The answer is, unfortunately, no, but when you're inside this little restaurant gem hidden away in the industrial parks of Surrey, you will be able to imagine the harsh climate of Afghanistan, the music, sounds, and the warm delicious aroma of fresh-baked bread... And oh! The chicken kebabs seasoned and baked perfectly, the "Mantu" dinner - little spicy beef-filled dumplings with yogurt base. The English language does not do justice to the culinary delights awaiting visitors.
And, it seems, there is a little bit of a debate going on in restaurant circles about alcoholic beverages. Some people will not sit in a restaurant that is not also a bar, and some people are the opposite: they would not sit in a restaurant that is/has a bar!
For those who like their food 'halal', which in Afghanistan means 'legal' (as opposed to meat which may have been butchered inhumanely or in an unregulated facility), and prefer to eat their food with their senses unaltered - this tiny gem of a restaurant deserves five stars.
